I’ve been getting pretty excited about this Saucony/MyOpenBar party in Austin during SXSW: Four Square Punk and Down Derby. From Thursday-Saturday, they’ll have 4 bands going at a time, blasting through one song each and going around, right after each other (maybe some even at the same time?). I’m not just saying that because they sent me free sneakers and then blogged about my Twittering about it (which I actually just saw now while writing this post) – their lineup includes some must-see bands this week: The So So Glows, The Bronx, Mika Miko, Finally Punk, Dark Meat, Mae Shi, Valient Thorr, Ponytail, These Are Powers, DD/MM/YYYY, and more.
Another great option for those of you like me who are heading to Austin this week without a badge or wristband, but still hope to catch all of your favorite bands is the Todd P (and friends) mini-fest at Ms. Bea’s. From Tuesday-Saturday, you can find just about every noisy, sloppy, punk, amazing band you’d ever want to check out (for free) outside at 1104 East 6th St (@ Medina St).
